Project 2: Video Tutorial (Reflection)

A self-evaluation is a powerful tool that will help us become better people. Reflecting on and evaluating our work after we finished doing work will give us insights that may save us lots of problems later. So, therefore, I am writing my reflection on my learning and experience during the making of the video tutorial. Video tutorial is useful and helpful. It’s an application of modern technology to interact and share information with our friends and students. Even we can teach our lesson using this modern method in our absence.

To do this project work we were asked to use Camtasia Studio 6, record and produce our video tutorial of 15 minutes. We chose to work on Class IV Mathematics on Diagonals and Symmetry.

We discussed the class, subject, and topic through chat. Sonam Choden volunteered to write the draft lesson plan which she posted on wiki and shared with our group. The group member together made the final lesson plan and divided our parts for recording as follows:

2.     Lesson Development- Myself

3.     Activity 1:  Mrs. Sonam Choden

4.     Activity 2: Mr. Jigme Norbu

5.     Follow up and Closure : Mrs. Lhamo

All recordings were shared with Jigme Norbu to produce the video tutorial through Google drive. While Jigme worked on producing the video tutorial he captured what he was doing and sent it to us on we chat. He called us and fixed a time so that we can also learn how it was done. He told us how we can record it directly or otherwise import it from the videos that we already have. It should be in the format that Camtasia Studio 6 accepts, if not we need to convert it using some other converters. Once we have imported the video, we need to drag our video to the storyboard, then we can trim, add effects, music, etc to produce the final video.

These devices are great for providing an exciting, memorable learning experience. Learning new things brings satisfaction and happiness in our mind and we are happy when we successes in doing. If we are able to use this kind of software we can create video tutorials to substitute our class when we stay on leave. We can create songs and rhymes as children in the lower primary love singing and dancing to a tune. It also develops their oral skill and hence improves their communication skills. So, let us learn all new things and create a better teaching and learning environment with whatever ICT facilities we have in school.

I am really fortunate to do this project as I have developed an interest to work with Camtasia Studio 6, I am sure it will help me to create some video tutorials, songs, and rhymes, dances so that I can use it in my classroom to enhance my teaching and learning and share it with my friends so that they can also use it in their class.

Lastly, I would like to thank our tutor Mr. Chenga Dorji for making us work on such projects. We have learned a lot and I will make optimum use of the knowledge in my teaching in near future.

Group Project work 1

Creating an interactive flesh-based quiz using the share Quiz creator really gave me hands-on experiences and came to know how to use and add animated images, flesh movies, and sound effects to polish and enhance our quiz with comprehensive properties. It can be helpful teaching tools to foster the qualities of innovation, creativity, and active participation. The text and pictures of each page are easily viewed on the screen by the students, whereas it can motivate students to learn better. Technology can play a critical role in changing the everyday same old method of teaching lessons.

After getting the instruction we created a small group in We chat. We use this social networking for discussion of ICT learning and the given topic among friends. To carry out this project work, we really enjoyed ourselves among our friends. We divided the topic and share using a social network like Wiki, drive, and mostly through We Chat. I got an opportunity to make Fill in the blank and word bank quiz. As we carried out this activity during our residential class, it really helped me to do the work. Besides we learned and discussed using the software to create the quiz. It really helped me to learn how easily we can create a quiz for our children.

So using the knowledge that I have learned from this project work, I had organized Inter house quiz competition. It really enjoyed my colleagues and students and they are interested to learn how to create the quiz using the software. So, I am planning to share the information to my friends and students in this coming month, which in turn it will really help them in their future endeavor.

So, I really thank my tutor for giving me such an opportunity to do this project work. I hope it will really help me to carry out this type of work easily in the future.

Reflection day 6

What exactly are a blog, blogging, and Wiki?

Day VI   10^th July

I have heard the term “blog” and wanted to know what blogs are all about but couldn’t get the right place to learn about them. As my tutor took us through his presentation on the blog, I came to know all the knowledge we need to start a blog of our own. Now I am able to create my own blog in my own simple ways to share my thoughts with a handful of readers and hope to have many in times to come. I would rather interpret a Blog as one’s own website to update on an ongoing basis of the online individual journals to express ourselves to the world our opinion and passion. Really, it’s anything we want it to be.

To have one free blog, we need to sign in to our G mail account and pursue few steps like;

1.      Sign in our Google account.

2.      Connect Google apps.

3.      Opt for blogger

4.      Compose an address in URL with a blog title

5.      Select a template.

6.      Insert one personal profile.

7.      Modify the owned blog design and layout.

The heart and soul of a flourishing blog is great content. Blogs are not books, and they require having more than just a huge block of text to keep the readers’ interest in providing valuable content that people actually want to read and share with their friends. So to post on our blog, you need to first go to a new post where a page opens up. You can have the writing with images, videos, different fonts, and colors that make our content look eye-catching and appealing. Once you have completed writing the post, click publish to share with your friends.

Wiki is part of server software that allows users to liberally produce and change Web page content by means of any Web browser. It is an extraordinary Wiki usage that allows everyday users to create and edit in a Web site that is exciting about the content composition.

To have a Wiki page, follow the steps below;

1.      Sign to our Google account.

2.      Connect on the Google apps and find sites.

3.      Click on sites and include the essential information to form a Wiki page.

Such page can be used to share our writing, notes, announcement, or notices to our friends without manual work and it also systematizes a lot of activities that put aside time resources utilization. It can be instantly through only if there is access to the internet.

With this background information of making one’s life easier and exciting, I have taken up the initiative to create my school Blog (Issuna Primary School) which is near to completion. In hope of motivating my colleagues and other friends, I requested them to visit my blog and post their comments and views.
